Registered Massage Therapy
Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) is a regulated healthcare profession in Ontario focused on the assessment and treatment of physical dysfunction and pain affecting the body’s soft tissues and joints, primarily through hands-on techniques. RMTs use a combination of clinical assessment methods, including orthopaedic and neurological testing, to guide individualized treatment plans.

Care may involve a range of approaches such as soft tissue manipulation (most commonly Swedish massage, which uses flowing strokes and kneading to reduce muscle tension and promote relaxation), hydrotherapy, prescribed exercise programs, and client education.
These treatments work to improve circulation, enhance the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to tissues, and support the body’s natural healing processes. In addition to helping manage injuries, pain, and stress, massage therapy also plays an important preventative role in maintaining mobility, reducing the risk of future issues, and promoting overall well-being.
